This product is intended to help you reduce “RUT damage” to your yard caused by the repetitious paths taken by your dog(s).

The goal is to DETOUR your dog off his favorite path to reduce wear and tear allowing the damage to recover, while continuing to vary the DETOUR placements to prevent new patterns
(and ruts) from being formed.

All dogs are different and therefore may respond differently to the DETOURS and placement
strategies, but with patience and imagination you can find a strategy that will work for your dog and your yard.

Keep Out What You Want Out!

In the beginning of the video with no Detours in place, the dog keeps his eyes on the target, in this case another dog, as he runs back and forth along the fence line. If left unchecked, this
pattern will dig deep ruts into the yard or garden.

When three Detours are placed along his path they act as obstacles forcing him to take his eyes off the other dog in order to make his way around them. Each time he clears a Detour he has to stop to re-acquire a visual of the other dog. One time he tripped trying to jump the Detour while also trying to keep his eyes on the other dog. This is just part of the learning process.

Eventually you will find that after the lesson is learned well, one or two Detours left in place is all it takes to stop the fence running.
