1. Find the desired
location that is flat and accessible on
all sides for dogs to enjoy the
Decorative DOGIPARK® Fire
Hydrant. It is recommended to remove any
sod around the Fire Hydrant so that it
can be installed on a flat area and
surrounded by mulch
2. Mark the location of
the (4) four holes on the ground where
the ground mount installation
j-rods will be inserted
into the ground through the base of the
fire hydrant
3.
Use a broom stick, tomato, ground stake
or similar items to pound into the
ground to create 4 holes approximately
2-3” wide and 14” deep for the j-rods to
be inserted
4.
Lay the fire hydrant on the ground
sideways and slide each j-rod into each
hole on the base of the fire hydrant to
prepare to install into the ground
5
Per the directions on the bag, pour some
quick setting concrete into each hole
filling them up
6.
Position the fire hydrant in the
installation area and slide the
installed j-rods into each
concrete-filled hole
7.
The j-rods may need to be swiveled back
and forth gently to get them to slide
all the way down into the wet concrete
filled holes If necessary, gently hammer
the j-rods, into their holes. CAUTION:
The powder coating on the top of the
j-rods can be chipped and damaged if the
top of the j-rods are not covered with a
soft item if hammered. Proceed slowly
and tap gently to ensure they are not
damaged. The fire hydrant will need to
set and cure per the directions on the
quick setting concrete that was used
8.
It is recommended to surround the fire
hydrant with a wood mulch to create a
buffer so the landscapers maintaining
the area do not hit the fire hydrant
with a lawnmower or weed trimmer and so
that there is no grass immediately
around it that will be destroyed by the
dog urine that likely will increase in
the area due to the presence of the fire
hydrant
9.
The Decorative DOGIPARK® Fire Hydrant
may also be surface mounted instead of
ground mounting. Surface mounting
hardware has NOT be included and the
j-rods will not be necessary for this
type of installation. CAUTION: DO NOT
OVER TIGHTEN any
surface mounting hardware. This may
damage the base of the fire hydrant
